A place to call HOME...Sunshine Chalet

The Sunshine Chalet will be the new home for national netball teams being prepared by the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) for various competitions.

The Prime Minister, the Hon. O. Bruce Golding will at 2:00pm on Friday, January 15, 2010, hand over the keys to the JNA. The house is located at 17 Widcombe Road, Kingston 6 and will be leased to the association for 49 years.

All expense to repair the house will be borne by the JNA. President Bernard when asked how that would be accomplished, quickly pointed out that plans are already on the way to have a "Refurbishing Fair", where potential sponsors will be courted to assist in whatever way they can with the refurbishing efforts. She further added that already persons have volunteered household articles. There are also plans to have various fund raising activities first of which is a BBQ to be held shortly. The JNA has identified a project manager; a steering committee will be formed to oversee the project

An ecstatic President Bernard thanked the Prime Minister and the Minister of Sports, the Hon. Babsy Grange for coming to the JNA's rescue. She noted that over the last five years the JNA spent close to six million dollars ($6M) to house various national teams that were being prepared for competitions.
