The JNA is able maintain the success
of all its teams over the years because it places great emphasis
on squad maintenance. More than 2/3 of its funding is spent
on squad maintenance. Maintenance entails not only providing coaching
and managerial support, but food, transportation medical, counseling
services as well as a wide range of social, educational and economical
support to all squad members.
The JNA uses a holistic approach to
squad maintenance as we are determined to remain the highest ranked
netball team in the Caribbean and among the top five of the world.
The JNA maintains the following squads:
- The Senior (Sunshine Girls)
Squad
- The Intermediate Development
(Under 21) Squad
- The Junior Development (Under
16) Squad
Our latest effort is to establish
a nursey squad for age group 11-14 years. This squad is crucial
to our sustainability and development, and although we are having
great financial difficulty getting it started, we are determined
to do so. We have already identified 16 potential sunshine
girls ranging between ages 10-13 for this programme. We welcome
any support that can be given to us to enable this dream to be
realized.
All squads are managed by a team of volunteers
who form the JNA's Management Committee. The members of this committee
are:
- Mrs. Hyacinth Smith
(Convenor)
- Mrs. Arlene Findlay
(Under 16)
- Mrs. Lysetta Mayne (Under 16)
- Miss. Elsie Shaw (Under
21)
- Mrs. Theda King (Under
21)
- Mrs.Yvonne Keane-Dawes (Sunshine
Girls)
- Miss Andrea Anthony (Sunshine
Girls)
The squads are also supported by a
medical group that provides free physiotherapy as well as general
and specialized medical care to squad members. The medical team
comprises the following persons:
- Dr. Primanand Singh (General
Practitioner)
- Dr. Akshai Mansing (Orthopaedic
Surgeon)
- Maureen Spence-Campbell (Physiotherapist)
- Pat Lue Chin (Physiotherapist)
- Kadija Richards (Psychologist)
